How to say more with fewer words
Kill the A-B syndrome. Don't say "Actually" or "Basically." Both words are disclaimers, and both tend to obfuscate a situation.
Kill the Y-K syndrome. Means "You know." If I know, why tell me?
Eliminate redundant words and phrases. The remaining words and phrases will have more impact.
Examples of redundant phrases abound: "As a matter of fact..." "By and large..." "To be honest with you..." "You'd better believe it..." "What I mean is this..." and several hundred more.
Make a drastic reduction in saying words ending the "ly." Most are value judgements which turn people off. You simply don't need "generally" or "specifically" or "theoretically."
Cut a deal with your business friends. Arrange to interrupt each other on hearing these redundant words and phrases. You'll get a few laughs and will strengthen the friendships.
You'll be crisp and succinct. You'll get across.
After you are into this simple word-reduction program, ask your Collectors to do the same. You'll all have fun interrupting each other, and...
...you'll all make shorter collection telephone calls. When you make shorter calls, you'll make more of them. When you make more calls, you'll contact more debtors. When you contact more debtors, you'll collect more money.
